Scrooge

The Miniature Market was started in 2000 when I began making polymer clay dolls in 1/12 scale
[
1 inch is equal to 1 foot ].

I was very surprised
to discover that I could make these tiny dolls and just couldn't stop creating them.

The Miniature Market is set at Christmas time in the Victorian Era

The dolls are all handsculpted from polymer clay, I don't use molds so each little character is unique. I just love seeing their little faces emerge from the clay when I am sculpting them. Most of the products on the stalls are also made from polymer clay. The stalls themselves are made from any wood I could get my hands on. I use the wood from tangerine crates a lot because they are free.

I costume the dolls with real fabrics, I prefer old well worn fabrics as they drape better than new material. Finding enough different fabrics was a bit of a chore, I spent a lot of time in second hand stores. There are 40 dolls in the market and each one is wearing at least three fabrics. I didn't want to use the same fabric twice, so you can see that I needed a lot.
